Budding fashion designers of the city will showcase their collection at a fashion show scheduled to be held on November 27. Models from Bangalore and Hyderabad will walk the ramp donning the outfits for women designed by the students of Samana Institute of Fashion Technology.

The top models will add elegance, style, flamboyancy, glamour and glitz to the creative collections of the first batch of 25 students, mostly girls, of the institute. The students have completed a six-month course in fashion technology.

SIFT CEO Samana Moosavi told a press conference on Saturday that such platforms will not only showcase the collection of young designers but also boost their confidence when professional models walk the ramp in their designer attires. All the 25 students of the institute have been picked up by companies like the ITC Limited, Arvind Brands Ltd., A.V. Birla Group and Bombay Dyeing. The students would be given placement orders as soon as they complete their project work, she said.

Referring to courses offered by the institute, Ms. Moosavi said that B.Sc. (fashion technology), a two-year degree course, would be offered from next academic year. The Punjab University would award the degrees to the students. A four-month and a six-month course would be offered in fashion photography from January 2011. The institute was a first of its kind in the coastal Andhra, and was operating as a franchisee of the Hyderabad-based Lakhotia Institute of Fashion Designing. The SIFT was offering diploma in modelling, diploma in interior decoration, diploma in fashion photography and many more short-term courses, she said. SIFT director P. Vijayaramaraju, principal Anwaruddin and others were present.
