HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission on Tuesday directed the Medak Collector to inspect the Charity City and Gracious School in Sadashivpet mandal and submit a detailed report on the state of affairs there by July 18.

SHRC Chairman B. Subashan Reddy, who heard a petition submitted by Sangareddy legislator T. Jayaprakash Reddy, asked the Collector and the Medak District Education Officer to visit the Charity City and inquire into the happenings there.

MLAs’ plea

The MLA in his petition had complained about malfunctioning of the Charity City and the Gracious School. It was stated that thousands of students studying in pathetic conditions. The order noted that the precious human rights of the students were being violated in the matters of education, health and treatment. He also stated that the students were being tortured physically and mentally and if they wanted to leave school, their TCs were not being issued.

It may be mentioned here that a former student Mamatha had approached the Commission with the same allegations. Based on her application, the Commission had called for a report from the DEO, Medak.
