The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Committee on Petitions, headed by Nethi Vidya Sagar, on Thursday visited the TTDs ‘Shravanam Project’ which takes care of infants born with hearing impairment. The chairman, along with members, interacted with the teachers and parents of the children about the treatment and amenities being provided by the TTD to the inmates. Later, in course of an official sitting with the top brass of the TTD, Revenue, Forest and other core government departments, the panel members reviewed their working and deliberated on certain specific issues brought to their notice. They discussed with the TTD authorities important issues such as the TTD itself taking responsibility of paying salaries to the Shravanam staff, payment of time-scale to the TTD forest workers and so on.
The committee members also took up complaints being brought to their notice with the revenue officials about problems that were being faced in the distribution of land to the landless in the Srikalahasti mandal. The chairman and members later told media persons that the departments of revenue and forest were engaged in a discussion to arrive at a consensus on the issue as the problem was being faced in other districts of the State as well. A higher level meeting would be held soon at Hyderabad to find a lasting solution to the issue, said the committee chairman.
Among the committee members who took part in the review meet here were Reddappa Reddy, Y.V.B. Rajendra Prasad, Balasani Laxminarayan, Gangadhar Goud and P.J.C. Shekar Rao besides district Collector Solomon Arokiyaraj and TTD Joint Executive Officer P. Venkatarami Reddy.
