TIRUPATI: The ten-day workshop on Sankhya and Dharma shastra conducted as part of `Shastra Varadhi' (UGC's Centre of Excellence project) began at Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha (RSVP) here on Thursday.

In his inaugural address, the varsity's first Vice-Chancellor N.S. Ramanuja Tatacharya expressed concern over the tendency of the youth in going wayward and attributed it to the sudden shift in lifestyle based on western culture. He stressed on the need for all institutions to teach 'Manu dharma', a repository of knowledge on social behaviour and discipline, which would be the panacea for all social ills.
