The YSR Congress leader Sharmila on Thursday held out a promise that the ‘Rajanna Rajyam’ to be formed by her brother and party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, MP, would bring down the power tariff, providing relief to the people if he was voted to power.

Continuing her ‘Maro Praja Prasthanam Padayatra’ in Kasavarigudam, Yacharam and Anumula, which entered the seventh day on Thursday, she alleged that the Kiran Kumar Reddy Government was causing severe hardship to the people by steeply increasing the power tariff.

Farmers and commoners told her at a ‘rachabanda’ at Anumula that they were put to difficulties to pay the high tariff. Her ‘yatra’ entered the 66th day. Sharmila said the Government headed by her father, the Late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, had provided relief to the people by not increasing the power tariff.

Addressing a public meeting at Halia, she described Jaganmohan Reddy as a ‘cage lion’ in Chanchalguda Jail. She alleged that he was being kept in prison as part of the ‘harassment’ by the Centre and the Congress party. Yet, she expressed confidence that he would come out successful.

He would head the Government to be formed after the ensuing elections.

The YSRC leader reiterated her charge against Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu that he was protecting the Kiran Kumar Reddy Government by not tabling a no-confidence motion, despite labelling it ‘inefficient’ and ‘corrupt’.
