HYDERABAD: The postal address of Sriharikota Launching Range (SHAR) has finally been has been changed in the letter heads of SHAR and Indian Space Research Station (ISRO).
It is now mentioned as located in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh thanks to the efforts made by the State Official Languages Commission.
SHAR, a place from which India created a history of sorts by successfully launching several satellites using Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle on Monday, lies on an island in the famous Pulicat lake facing the Bay Bengal in Nellore district, about 100 km from Chennai. The letter heads of SHAR and ISRO had the postal address that linked the facility to Chennai.
The Official Languages Commission brought this discrepancy to the notice of ISRO Chairman Madhavan Nair.
The latter immediately replied to Official Languages Commission Chairman A.B.K. Prasad informing him that the postal address had been changed to Andhra Pradesh.
