The SFI activists who continued their relay hunger strike in front of Kadapa Collectorate on Monday placed a memorandum at former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s statue here demanding hike in mess charges and supply of subsidised LPG to hostels.

The Kiran Kumar Reddy Government was pursuing anti-student policies and meting out a raw deal to hostel students, SFI district vice-president Siva Kumar alleged. The cut in subsidised LPG supply to hostels could lead to pruning of the menu, he feared and demanded adequate LPG supply on subsidy and hike in mess charges.

Mr. Siva Kumar lamented that hostel inmates were being granted mess charges of Rs. 17.21 a day, but on the contrary those serving sentence in jails were being granted Rs. 35 a day. He alleged that students were not being given priority when compared to convicts. SFI leaders Sudhakar, Narasimhulu and Rajasekhar participated.
