AP Transco CMD Hiralal Samaria and its Joint MD K. Ranganatham have spoken of the need for the power utilities to resort to severe power cuts in the State during March-April when the demand will reach a high of 315 million units (mu) a day.

By that time, the shortage will go up by 95 mu a day, making it impossible for them to meet the demand without implementing cuts for domestic/commercial sectors while continuing 40 per cent load-shedding for industries.

Seven-hour supply, however, would be maintained for agriculture sector to save the rabi crops to the last acre.
