The personnel from the Indian Coastguard Station (ICGS), Kakinada, on Saturday rescued seven fishermen stranded in the Bay of Bengal. They belonged to Bhairavapalem.
Left on April 11
According to Station Commandant S.N.M. Pattanaik, the mechanised fishing boat Srinivasa Shiva Durga with seven fishermen on board left Bhairavapalem at 2.30 p.m. on April 11.
The boat was stranded about 15 nautical miles away from Bhairavapalem and began drifting towards northern side due to heavy gales.
Following information from the Fisheries Department, the IGCS personnel swung into action and spotted the fishing boat near Pentakota, about 25 nautical miles off the Kakinada coast on the northern direction, and brought them back to the shore.
