The morale of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers and leaders seems to be high what with as many as seven of them aspiring to contest the March 18 by-election from Adilabad Assembly constituency. Based on its performance in the previous elections, the party contends that it is in a position to fight the by-election.
Briefing the media after a meeting of party workers here on Monday, BJP district president Ravula Ramnath and others said the applications will be processed at the party's State core committee meeting at Hyderabad on Tuesday. The name of a candidate will be declared at Hyderabad, he added.
Talking about the advantages of the BJP in Adilabad Assembly constituency, the district president said his party had won the chairmanship of Adilabad Municipality earlier on its own. Besides, it had always polled a sizable number of votes in other elections, he said.
“The BJP's good performance in the recent local body elections in Maharashtra will have a positive impact on our prospects.
The voters also know that Telangana State is possible only through BJP,” Mr. Ramnath added.
