Seminar on solar air dryers in food processing technology was held at Lead Institute of Training and Development in which around 60 entrepreneurs took part in the city.
Speaking at the seminar V. Leela Prasad, member of Society for Energy, Environment and Development (SEED), said that several new opportunities were in the offing by using the solar dryers in the food processing industry.
“Using the solar dryers one can process in a hygienic, safe, healthy and clean manner,” he said.
In a power-point presentation, he showed the participants how the dryers were used in processing vegetables, fruits, flowers, sea foods, medicinal plants and preparation of mango, guava and sapota jellys. Mr. Ganesh, secretary of the SEED, asked the entrepreneurs to have focus on the changing trends in the market and explained about the Government schemes and subsidies for starting new industries.
