Department of Statistics of Andhra University is organising a national seminar on recent advances in stochastic modelling and its applications, on February 10 and 11, in connection with the 105{+t}{+h}birth anniversary of founder of the department Prof. K. Nagabhushanam.

The main aim of the seminar is knowledge transfer. It is being held in the background of significant developments in the field of stochastic modelling and its applications and their application to various fields like medical diagnosis; bio-informatics and genetic modelling; chemical process control; shape, handwriting, speech and face recognition; financial modelling and a wide range of other practical problems, K. Srinivasa Rao Professor of Department of Statistics said in a release issued here.


The seminar will provide an interaction between young researchers and scientists from different disciplines of statistics, mathematics, computer science and other related branches. Eminent personalities from the academic, industry and research organisations will deliver lectures and interact with participants.
