Kakinada: A seminar on ‘Phytochemical and Pharmacological Investigations of Mangrove Plants' was organised at Aditya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research, Surampalem on Friday.
Dr. Jun Wu of South China Institute of Sea Oceanography delivered the keynote address.
He discussed the antibacterial and anti-cancer properties of various chemical constituents present in the extracts obtained from various parts of the mangrove plants of China.
He said he came to India to investigate the potential of the vast mangrove plantations in Krishna and Godavari districts.
Pat for facilities
Appreciating infrastructure facilities available in Aditya Group of pharmacy institutions, Dr. Jun proposed collaborative research into medicinal properties of various plants of the region.
Aditya Academy Vice-Chairman N Satish Reddy presided over the function. Principals Ravishankar and Ramesh and secretary Mahender Reddy and others were present.
