The news of passage of Telangana Bill in Parliament with voice vote without a proper debate left the Seemandhra employees in the Secretariat and other directorates stunned while the Telangana employees broke into jubilant celebrations. Though Seemandhra employees expected the Bill to be passed without much difficulty, they still hoped for a proper discussion in the Parliament to consider the concerns raised by them over the new capital, education and employment opportunities, loss of revenue, constitutional safeguards to Seemandhra people living in Hyderabad and other districts. AP Secretariat Seemandhra Employees Forum leader Muralimohan said they were dejected over the manner in which the Bill was adopted. “ We never expected the government to pass the Bill in such an undemocratic manner. We are devoid of any emotions at the injustice meted out to Seemandhra region,” he said. The Telangana employees on the other hand were jubilant and celebrated their long cherished dream transforming into a reality. Joyous scenes of Telangana staff sprinkling ‘gulal’ and distributing sweets marked the corridors of Secretariat.
