Reports on possible terror strikes
ANANTAPUR: Security measures have been beefed up in the district, particularly in Puttaparthi, in the wake of Intelligence department’s information that terrorists were planning attacks in South India.
Focus is being laid on Puttaparthi which attracts foreign devotees and other tourists.
According to police sources, security audit was conducted in the spiritual place last month and a close watch was being kept on the foreign visitors to the village.
A dog squad was stationed at Puttaparthi to meet emergency situations like checking for explosives.
Tab on hotels
The police were also stated to be keeping a tab on the guests in hotels and lodges located in Puttaparthi.
Visitors to Prashanti Nilayam, the abode of Satya Saibaba, were being frisked before being allowed an entry into the portals.
The volunteers of Sri Satya Sai Central Trust stationed on the campus of Prashanti Nilayam were also given tips on responding in emergency security situations. General security measures like vehicle-checking were also intensified in the district.
