Shocked by yesterday's lightning attack by students on the residence of Minister for Major Irrigation P. Sudarshan Reddy at Subash Nagar under Three Town Police Station limits, the police beefed up the security there to prevent any untoward incident.
Additional men were deployed around the area and kept close tabs on movements of people, as all are aware that the police are under too much of pressure following the upsurge of movements by students, people's organizations and pro-Telangana activists in the wake of the disclosure of the Justice B.N. Srikrishna Committee report on January 6.
Protests by Telangana protagonists meanwhile continued across the district on Sunday. The BJP led by local MLA Y. Lakshminarayana staged ‘rasta roko' at the RTC bus depot demanding the government table a Bill for separate Telangana.
Telangana University students sat for relay hunger strike at Nagpur Gate at Dichpally. Former Minister and Banswada MLA Pocharam Srinivas Reddy visited their camp and expressed solidarity.
