State to repay Rs. 268-cr. power bills due by SC/ST households consuming up to 50 units
The Congress is according priority to spending funds for the development of SCs/STs by eliminating middlemen, educating children and empowering women besides eliminating disparities between the SCs/STs and other communities, Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy asserted on Saturday.
“Our endeavour is to ensure that SCs/STs feel competent at a global level,” he said in the Indiramma Kalalu public meeting in S. Venkatapuram village in Atlur mandal in Kadapa district.
The Congress has been taking decisions considering the people’s aspirations and is not going by Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu’s advice, he added.
In order to economically empower women, the government is giving house sites, houses, land and all types of assets in the name of women, Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy said. The government has decided to repay Rs. 268 crore worth power bills due by SC/ST households consuming up to 50 units of power
Transco officials have been directed to not disconnect power in any SC/ST household, he said.
Describing Kadapa district as a stronghold of the Congress, the Chief Minister exhorted Congress leaders and functionaries to propagate government schemes as he claimed that the Opposition parties and the media were spreading doubt among the people.
Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy promised a suitable position to former Badvel MLA V. Sivaramakrishna Rao, who was his father’s friend. He promised the sanction of houses through both the leaders in Badvel constituency and sanction of Ambedkar Bhavan in Badvel.
The Chief Minister sanctioned Rs. 110 crore for augmenting water supply in Badvel segment, Rs. 40 crore exclusively to meet water needs in the rural areas and Rs. 23 crore for developing Badvel-Porumamilla road.
He showed a bag containing nine commodities to be given soon under Amma Hastam scheme.
