The South Central Railway (SCR) has announced the start of 278 special trains for the summer season to handle holiday rush. The trains will be run in the months of April, May and June.
The special trains will cover destinations including Hyderabad, Tirupati, Karimnagar, Visakhapatnam, Machilipatnam, Renigunta, Kakinada, Guntur, Nanded, Aurangabad, Bangalore, Mumbai, Kollam, Kolhapur, Jaipur, Sriganganagar, Kota, Darbhanga and others. The details of the special trains have been made available on SCR website: www.scr.indianrailways.
According to a SCR press release, the carrying capacity of 22 trains has been augmented permanently with 63 additional coaches recently. Besides, extra coaches are being attached on a daily basis to trains that have a long waiting list.
It is also being ensured that additional coaches are logged into the passenger reservation system in time so that the waiting list is automatically updated. Measures are being taken to curb malpractices in booking/reservation by carrying out special checks by commercial, vigilance and security departments to ensure that bonafide passengers are able to book their tickets without any problem.
Extra ticket counters are being operated at major stations on need-basis to ease queues.
