Seven districts identified in the country for implementing development programme
Envisioning a bright industrial growth prospects for Khammam district ahead, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) principal advisor Sushanta Sen has emphasised the significance of inclusive growth for extending the benefits of development to the common man and to all parts of the country.
Mr Sen was speaking at a seminar on “Economic and Entrepreneurial Development in Khammam District” held here on Saturday. Khammam MP Nama Nageswara Rao presided over the programme.
Mr Sen said CII was playing a facilitator role to create conducive environment for sustainable and inclusive growth in the country. Highlighting the CII's current year's theme of “Business for Livelihood”, he said it envisaged promotion of education, employability, entrepreneurship and innovation as a means to achieve 10 percent growth rate by 2014.
“The CII Development Council has identified seven districts, including Khammam, in the country for implementingdevelopmental programme encompassing training for skill development and other initiatives,” he said.
“There is scope for expansion of agro and mineral based industries in Khammam district,” Mr Sen said adding that a detailed report would be prepared based on an in-depth study for realising the full industrial potential of the district.
Giving a power point presentation, Mr Nama Nageswara Rao said the district was endowed with rich natural resources and infrastructure facilities conducive for industrial development and employment generation on a massive scale.
“The district is already witnessing significant industrial activity in coal mining, thermal power generation, granite industry and other crucial spheres,” he remarked and underscored the need for developing rural enterprises while utilizing local talent and resources.
“The district is a potential location for agro process industries, mineral based industries, infra and construction industries and dairy and poultry farming, he said calling upon the entrepreneurs to become active partners in the endeavour to transform Khammam into a major logistic warehousing and infra hub in the region.
