ONGOLE: Schoolchildren, Youth Congress and TDP activists took out rallies separately in support of unified State on Wednesday.

Interestingly, children studying in private schools are participating in the agitation more actively than their brethren in municipal and aided schools. Private schools normally lay emphasis on studies and keep their students away from public agitations in a bid to save their working days. But they are now motivating the students to take out rallies to strengthen the agitation for united Andhra Pradesh.

Express solidarity

As private schoolchildren took out the rally through the Kurnool Road, shopkeepers pulled down their shutters to avoid any untoward incidents. The children went up to the NTR statue, expressed their solidarity with the Markapur MLA Kandula Narayana Reddy fasting for the last three days, raised slogans for united State and dispersed.

Youth Congress workers took out a rally from the statue of Potti Sriramulu to the statue of Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy near Superbazar, rolled over the ground praying for unity of the State.

Though Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy drew flak for joining hands with the TDP in the Lok Sabha to protest against efforts of the UPA Government to divide the State, the Youth Congress workers hailed his action.
