Children pose questions on trafficking

VARNI (NIZAMABAD Dt.): J. Harinarayana, Chief Secretary to the State Government, used to go in a rickshaw if he wanted to go to any place after office hours when he was the Joint Collector of the district in early 1970s. It was recollected by Bajireddy Govardhan, Banswada MLA at a programme held at Kotaiah Camp, the Samskar Plan headquarter, here on Saturday.“I was then a high school student in Nizamabad. Mr. Harinarayana never used his official car after office hours. That was the sincerity and integrity of our Chief Secretary,” he said.

He went on to say that if such officers were in the administration leaders in the Government would be not worried. The Chief Secretary, meanwhile, was happy over his 20 minute interaction with the children of Samskar Ashram Vidyalaya.

He replied all questions posed by children of the destitute women (joginis) on the issues of child labour, child trafficking, child remarriages and special girl child education. He promised to look into the appeal of the Samskar that a piece of two acre land purchased for its school be registered on its name.

He also agreed to ensure the registration of land purchased by the organisation for its nature cure hospital at Akbarnagar, two km from here.

Mr. Harinarayana asked the Collector B. Ramanjaneyulu to move the file on the twin requests of the Samskar. Meanwhile, the Collector clearly promised to sanction some amount to the Samskar Ashram Vidyalaya from the Rs.9 lakh recently allotted to the district under Children in Difficult Circumstances Scheme.

Sarvodaya leader, Gandhian and founder of Samskar Mr. Lavanam, Plan International CEO Ms. Verity Corbett, its Indian Coordinator V. Venkat and Samskar Project Director K.H.S.S. Sundar spoke.
