Tulasi Group has been giving aid from 1994

GUNTUR: Krishnadevaraya Aid for Poor and Underprivileged, a charitable Trust floated by Tulasi Group of companies with the help of some philanthropists will be distributing scholarship to the extent of Rs.50 lakh to the economically poor meritorious students during the current academic year.

The Tulasi Group had been giving scholarship since 1994 to meritorious students desirous of continuing the education in Intermediate and all professional colleges.

During the last academic year they had provided scholarship worth Rs.24 lakh to 965 students.

“This amount will be increased to Rs.50 lakh during current year and about 2,000 students will be benefited by it,” the Trust Managing Trustee Tulasi Ramachandra Prabhu told reporters here on Friday.

He announced the formal inauguration of the Trust on Sunday at Vignana Mandiram in the presence of Minister for Transport Kanna Lakshmi Narayana, Chittoor MP Adi Kesava Naidu and other MLAs.

Students with a poor economic background and having secured a minimum of 80 per cent in the previous examination can apply for the scholarship either through e-mail: contact@krishnadevaraya.org or in person at Tulasi House, 4/5 Arundelpet, Guntur.

The Trust had planed to raise Rs.5 crore within two years with Tulasi Group contributing Rs.1 crore initially, Mr. Prabhu added.

Winner of several business awards, he said that he did not want the quantum of aid to come down and did not want name of his company to reflect in the Trust, so registered it eight months ago.
