CHITTOOR: The Centre will implement several schemes to prevent infant and maternal mortality , according to Family Welfare Commissioner P. V. Venkataramana.

He was addressing a meet on National Rural Health Mission for ZPTC members, mandal parishad presidents, representatives of voluntary organisation, anganwadi workers and doctors here on Thursday.

These programmes were being implemented under the Reproductive and Child Welfare Programme, which was being implemented with a budget of Rs.795.20 crores.

As many as 27 ambulances would be used for the purpose.

Round-the-clock hospitals would also opened at different places in the district to serve emergency cases.

Sufficient funds would be released to primary health centres and Government hospitals .

Hostel development committees would be constituted for each hospital, said Mr. Venkataramana.

District Collector S. S. Rawath and DMHO Budriddin participated.
