‘State purchasing power for ryots'
KADAPA: The State government is supplying free power for seven hours to agriculturists without fail by purchasing power at Rs. 12 a unit from other States, Minister for Roads and Buildings Galla Aruna asserted on Wednesday.
Addressing a Praja Patham gram sabha at Gollapalle village in Vontimitta mandal, the Minister enquired with people if they were benefiting from 108 and 104 ambulance services. She asked if drinking water, power supply and medical services were reaching them properly.
The villagers expressed satisfaction. Ms. Aruna said all the schemes conceived by former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy would be continued and people would not face any problems.
Public representatives and officials were coming to the people to resolve their problems in summer and to ensure that the developmental and welfare schemes should reach the downtrodden and weaker sections, the Minister said. Rajiv Arogyasri which provided medical services up to Rs. 2 lakh to the poor and middle classes, was a boon to people, he said.
Drinking water was being supplied by hiring agricultural borewells and through tankers, Ms. Aruna said.
Chief Minister K. Rosaiah was examining with officials on payment of compensation for banana, papaya and other horticultural crops that were damaged by recent rainfall and gales and would take a decision soon, she stated. Two villagers Venkatamma and Umadevi narrated that they were treated of renal and uterine ailments in Bollineni and Apollo Hospitals under Rajiv Arogyasri scheme.
A villager thanked the government for his daughter's heart surgery under Arogyasri. Ms. Aruna inaugurated the village secretariat building in Pennaperuru village in Vontimitta mandal built at a cost of Rs. 4.50 lakh.
Recruits to the Army should feel proud for serving and protecting the nation, but not view it merely as a job, Minister for Roads and Buildings Galla Aruna said on Wednesday.
Expressing pleasure at visiting an ongoing Army recruitment rally at the Municipal Stadium here for the first time, the Minister said they would attain enormous satisfaction in serving the nation.
The overwhelming response for the rally was heartening, she said.
