HYDERABAD: Venkat Reddy, sarpanch of Gundlapalli village in Medak district, suffered bleeding wounds when a group of four persons attacked him with a knife following an argument over the Telangana issue at Petbasheerabad on Friday night.

Mr. Reddy, his friends and the four accused were allegedly in an inebriated condition when they clashed, Petbasheerabad Inspector Srinivas Reddy said. The sarpanch, along with two of his friends, was consuming liquor at an open place, off Ujwala wines, when the accused sitting nearby overheard a conversation about Telangana and picked up an argument.
