Devi Sarannavarathri festivities will be held in Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari Devi temple, popularly known as Ammavarisala, here from October 16, Sarannavarathri Utsava Committee president U. Viswanatham and Arya Vysya Sangham president Kota Narasimha Rao said on Thursday.

As Ammavarisala temple was being renovated, the festivities and cultural programmes would be held by putting up pandals, they told newsmen here. The presiding deity would be decorated in “mukhapadma kala” made with 330 grams of gold, they said. The temple would be colourfully illuminated and homam, special poojas, binde seva and gramotsavam would be performed. Sangham members Rajasekhar, T. Satish and P. Kiran participated.

Sarannavarathri celebrations in Sri Kanyaka Parameswari temple at Rajampet will commence with Deeksha bandhanam on October 16 and the presiding deity will be decorated in nine different forms, Arya Vysya Sangham, Rajampet town unit president B. Narasimha Fupta and member P. Subbarayudu Gupta told newsmen at Rajampet.

The deity will be decorated as Sri Saraswathi Devi on October 21, Mahishasura Mardhini on Durgashtami on October 22, Sri Annapoorna Devi on Maharnavami on October 22 and as Sri Rajarajeswari Devi on October 24 and 25, they said. Visually challenged artistes of Jnana Netram, an NGO, will render a musical programme on October 25, they added.
