Sankranti is fast approaching and the season of celebrations has already started. The residents of Currencynagar are celebrating the festival by sharing the joy and participating in cultural and sports activities.

R. Chalapathi Rao, secretary of the Currencynagar Welfare Association, says that they are conducting rangoli, lemon and spoon and musical chair programmes for women as part of the Sankranti celebrations this year. There will be first, second and third prizes for the winners and also a number of consolation prizes for the participants.

Mr. Chalapathi Rao said that the interested people should register their names at the Community Hall of Currencynagar before January 14 midday. The events will be conducted from 3 p.m. on January 15. Participants in rangoli competitions should bring their own colours and they should abide by the guidelines of the association.
