Calling for support for State’s unity, YSRC senior leader and MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy said their forthcoming ‘Samaikya Sankaravam’ being held in Hyderabad on October 26 was solely aimed at drawing the attention of Delhi leaders to the need for keeping Andhra Pradesh united regardless of their recent decision.
An appeal was made to the people from all walks of life and to the YSRC cadres to attend the Hyderabad meeting in large numbers and make it a grand success as this was crucial in making the national leaders realise that there was an overwhelming public support for State unity.
Under the leadership of Mr. Rajamohan Reddy, the YSRC leaders held a meeting here on Monday and formed special committees to mobilise the party activists and sympathisers for the Samaikya Sankaravam.
Addressing a press conference later, Mr. Reddy asserted that their party’s elected representatives were always the first to resign and take a plunge into the agitation for united State. He said the Centre mooted the bifurcation only to confine the influence of Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy to Seemandhra regions and there was no other basis for their decision now.
Strongly upholding the leadership of Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy and Ms. Vijayamma in the wake of recent developments, Mr. Rajamohan Reddy said they were of the firm opinion that bifurcation could be taken up only through the States Reorganisation Committee or through an Assembly resolution. All these issues would be discussed and debated at the Hyderabad meeting where the YSRC would give a call for integrationists to fight against the division with unity.
