Samaikyandhra Parirakshana Samithi JAC leaders have decided to organise a demonstration and lay siege to Finance Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy’s residence here on Thursday as part of their efforts to step up the agitation for united State.
APNGOs district vice-president Chejerla Sudhakara Rao said that during the course of their agitation, the Samaikya activists would also organise a protest programme at the SHAR space centre at Sriharikota in the district.
The Samaikya Students’ JAC burnt an effigy of the former Director General of Police V. Dinesh Reddy, taking objection to his remarks on the Maoist threat if the bifurcation was to be carried out.
They alleged that the former DGP’s statements were in the nature of undermining the Samaikyandhra agitation in Seemandhra regions.
In response to the call of Potti Sriramulu JAC here, the members of ‘doodekula’ community organised a protest rally and relay hunger strike against the division of the State.
Meanwhile, the Samaikyandhra Employees and Teachers’ JAC criticised Tirupati MP Chinta Mohan and held his followers responsible for making baseless statements that special arrangements were made for providing bank loans to the striking employees. They requested the MP to support and join the agitation instead of misleading the employees on the issue of united State.
The power problems continued in Nellore district with over 700 villages suffering prolonged power cuts on Wednesday. Nellore city also had power cut from around 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The electricity employees here appeared unrelenting in their protests against the bifurcation and extended support to the JAC’s call.
