HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam president, N. Chandrababu Naidu’s appeal for donations saw party’s ardent supporter, Mohammed Saleem promptly announcing Rs. 21 lakhs.
He was undeterred by the fact that he had lost in the elections recently prompting the other leaders to remark, “that should be the spirit of the party”.
For all its image of the disciplined party and its well- known meticulous planning, several leaders including Harikrishna had to go without lunch as the number of delegates who turned up far exceeded the expectation.
The lack of discipline was visible even during Mr. Chandrababu Naidu’s speech as the cadre preferred to walk in and out of the hall instead of listening to him.
Indicating that the party had not lost its social responsibility over 150 workers donated blood within an hour of it being inaugurated by Mr. Chandrababu Naidu.
Nandamuri Harikrishna, brother- in- law of Mr. Naidu made his presence felt by standing on the dais all through the day’s session. Another star attraction was R. K. Roja, president of women’s wing who did not give any hint of having lost the election from Chandragiri.
The glamour quotient could go up tomorrow when star campaigners for the party Balakrishna and NTR Junior are likely to attend the meeting.
