‘TDP has been exposing graft'
HYDERABAD: Senior leader of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) K. Yerran Naidu has demanded Chief Minister K. Rosaiah that he sack two Ministers – Dharmana Prasada Rao and Vatti Vasanth Kumar – for allegedly indulging in misuse of NREGS, the rural employment scheme. He also sought an inquiry into allegations of corruption against few other ministers.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, he sought to know why Mr. Rosaiah could not order a probe into the allegations of large-scale corruption by his ministers when he had discussed about negative reports in a newspaper in the Cabinet meeting.
He said the TDP had been exposing corruption by the Congress government repeatedly from the beginning with proof but no action was initiated.
Asked why people had rejected TDP in the last Assembly elections when the Congress leaders were involved in huge corruption, Mr. Naidu said there was no correlation between winning elections and indulging in corrupt activities.
People were still under illusion about the schemes promised by Congress, yet the TDP had won more than double the seats in 2009 than what it had won in 2004.
Keeping aside allegations by Opposition TDP, Congress leaders like G. Venkataswamy, Gudibanda Venkata Reddy, Konda Murali, Rayapati Sambasiva Rao had levelled charges against several ministers from time to time, he pointed out.
Further, the Telugu Desam leader alleged that about Rs. 100 crore was spent in Srikakulam and West Godavari beyond the sanctioned works under NREGS.
