Minister for Secondary Education K. Parthasarathi and district Collector S.A.M. Rizvi flagged off the Rythu Chaitanya Yatras amidst much fanfare on Tuesday.

The yatras will continue till June 2 in all the Assembly constituency areas of the district to educate farmers about agricultural practices ahead of the commencement of the kharif season.

The Secondary Education Minister said that the farmers would also be informed about the use of latest technology and Government schemes in agriculture and allied sectors. Live demonstrations like seed treatment, farm implements, soil sampling, and precautions on handling of pesticides, live models, horticulture, animal husbandry and micro irrigation would be organised, he explained. During the programme, the farmers must be informed about the quality seed processing, importance of vermi compost, and the adverse effects of organic manure, he said. The Krishna District Collector launching another yatra near Vijayawada Rural MDO office, said that the yatras were being conducted in 1,300 villages in the district.
