State BJP president G. Kishan Reddy, MLA, on Friday demanded immediate release of Rs.50 crore by the Government for each district to purchase paddy by its agencies, as farmers were resorting to distress sale in view of denial of the minimum support price.

At a press conference here, he urged the Government to convene an all-party meeting and release white paper giving details of daily paddy purchased by millers and IKP centres, Food Corporation of India and Civil Supplies department, gunny bags released to ryots, since the figures provided by officials are 'false'. He called for constitution of committees with representatives of Opposition and farmers to review paddy purchases. Mr. Reddy wanted Ministers to stay in market yards for 15 days to oversee paddy procurement and ensure MSP payment.
