The news that candidates backed by the ruling party were all set to bag majority of the chairperson posts in several districts was greeted with elation by Congress leaders. They expressed confidence that its candidates would bag a majority of the posts of chairpersons of District Cooperative Central Banks (DCCBs) too.
“The results are certainly a morale booster for us, when everybody spoke about the declining fortunes of the Congress,” a senior MLA remarked.
PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana said the results showed that ryots had endorsed the farmer centric programmes of the Government.
He said the farmers had understood the Government commitment in going the extra mile to provide power supply and implement farmer friendly programmes. “With these results, we are confident that the Congress will do well in second phase also,” he said. He dismissed the charges of misuse of official machinery and said such allegations were lame excuses by the opposition parties to cover up their dismal performance.
