Transactions hit owing to recurring problems

Faced with fierce criticism over recurring online technical snags resulting in disruption of services, the Transport Department is conducting Regional Transport Office-wise meetings in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts to fix such problems from next week.

It may be recalled that technical snags surfaced twice at Uppal RTO last week and transactions, including issue of Registration Certificates, conduct of driving license tests etc were suspended for the day.

Authorities have identified a few problems that recur frequently and affect the services. This apart, they have analysed the problems, including link failure, networking problems, software problems etc pertaining to each office, said a senior official.

The objective was to help authorities in fixing the snags. During the meetings they will be trained to identify the problems and the measures to be adopted to fix such problems, he said.

Uppal RTO is prone for frequent technical snags since it faces shortage on several fronts including infrastructure and man power. There is heavy work load and the few employees working at the office are finding it difficult to deal with the problems. All these issues would be discussed and efforts would be made to resolve them, he informed.

In addition to this, sensitisation programmes with emphasis on security maintenance would be organised at each RTO for the benefit of employees, he added.
