An RTI activist was attacked with syringes allegedly containing poisonous substance by three unknown offenders near the court centre in Markapur town in Prakasam district on Sunday.

The activist N. Srinivasa Rao (40), who swooned after he was injected the substance, was rushed to Markapur area hospital and later shifted to the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences here. The incident came a day before resumption of hearing in a case in the Markapur court on Monday against him filed under the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
