The whistle-blowers of RTI Rakshana Vedika district unit have alleged that Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Devasthanams Executive Officer T. Appa Rao abused E. Srinivas when he sought information about the expenditure incurred in providing gifts to the VIPs at the temple shrine under Right to Information Act.

In a press note here today, Rakshana Vedika district president T. Rajamouli, Lok Satta district president N. Srinivas, Consumers' Rights Protection Committee State leader R. Chandra Prabhakar said that the temple executive officer instead of providing information under RTI Act had abused the petitioner by summoning him to his office. Condemning the unruly behaviour of the EO, they reminded that the EO should provide entire information sought through RTI Act under 4 (1) b to ensure transparency. They said that the petitioner sought information about the gifts provided to the VIPs after darshan at the temple shrine and expenditure incurred from 2006 to 2011.

They alleged that the donations provided by the devotees were being misused by the authorities in the name of providing gifts to the VIPs at the shrine. They said that the temple authorities have failed to provide the ambitious supply of mineral water at Re. 1 per litre to the devotees in spite of spending lakhs on the installation of water plant.
