The first review meeting of the Right to Information Act by the Andhra Pradesh Information Commission will be held at the Warangal Collectorate on October 25. To be attended by Chief Information Commissioner Jannat Husain and three Information Commissioners A. Subba Rao, R. Dileep Reddy and K. Sudhakara Rao, the meeting forms part of those to be organised at Tirupati, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Hyderabad till November.

Creating awareness

The review meetings are intended to ensure proper implementation of the RTI Act to bring awareness among principal information officers, appellate authorities and all Government departments at the district level. The commission will review particularly the implementation of Sections 4 (1) (b) and 5 (1) and (2), check registers maintained by PIOs and appellate authorities, review the quarterly reports and display of boards and uploading of data in the departments' websites and in the commission's website.
