The APSRTC is considering plans to have more windmills for energy generation so that it can use the power for its own energy needs and also accrue savings.
Managing Director of APSRTC A.K. Khan told presspersons here on Wednesday that the windmill set up by the APSRTC at Ramagiri in Anantapur district in the year 1996 at a cost of about Rs. 37 crore had already paid back three times the money invested, over the years.
The windmill fed about 10 MW of power to the grid and the corporation had just to pay ‘wheeling’ charges to the APTransco to use the power elsewhere in the State for its everyday operations, he said. “We are keen on taking the help of experts from the Energy Department and the Non-Conventional Energy Development Corporation of A.P (NEDCAP) for the technology and are also looking for investors to fund the project,” he said. The corporation will launch 30 ‘Pushpak’ air-conditioned buses to take passengers to the Rajiv Gandhi Hyderabad International Airport at Shamshabad. Mr. Khan said.
