Under the Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan, the comprehensive sanitation scheme was launched in the Nellore district on Thursday as part which 62,000 families would get individual toilets at a total cost of Rs. 63.16 crore.

Finance Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy inaugurated the scheme by releasing the brochures and other campaign material on the occasion. He said that the scheme would be implemented in about 230 villages and the beneficiaries were already identified.

District Collector B. Sridhar said that the officials of District Water Management Agency, Rural Water Supply and other departments were geared up to effectively implement the scheme. Individual toilets would be built at Rs. 10,000 unit cost. Five gram panchayat in each mandal were identified for the scheme.
