‘The project has to be completed within 18 months’

Union Minister of State for Toursim K. Chiranjeevi has approved Central Finance Assistance of Rs. 45.88 crore for the development of Visakhapatnam-Bheemunipatnam beach corridor mega tourism circuit project in the State.

The project envisages development of tourism facilities at Bheemunipatnam, Erramattidibbalu, Kailasagiri, Mangamaripeta, R.K. Beach, Thotlakonda, Pavuralakonda, Rushikonda and Bhavanikonda and beautification of the beach corridor.

A statement issued by the minister’s office said Rs. 3.2 crore was released as first instalment of the CFA for taking up works.

The State Government would make land available for the project free of cost and would render all other assistance for completion of the project within the next 18 months.

The ministry made it clear that no portion of the sanctioned project should be utilised for development of land/property owned by private persons or organisations (individuals or trusts).

It also suggested the State Government to set up a monitoring committee to oversee the progress of the project implementation.
