Kunchem Venkata Subba Reddy, separate Rayalaseema activist and president of the Rayalaseema Rashtra Samithi (RRS) has in a letter reportedly faxed to Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, reiterated his demand for trifurcation of the State into Telangana, Coastal Andhra and Greater Rayalaseema and not mere bifurcation.
Addressing mediapersons here on Wednesday, Reddy released copies of his letter to Shinde wherein he recalled references made by Justice Sri Krishna Commission in its report that Rayalaseema was the most backward when compared to Telangana and Coastal Andhra.
It was in this context that the RRS leader defended the case of Rayalaseema people for separate statehood, in the interest of their welfare and livelihood.
He lashed out at the elected representatives from the Rayalaseema region for not strongly articulating the demand for a separate Rayalaseema and trying to meekly compromise for a ‘special economic package’ for Rayalaseema which would only doom the fate of the region.
