‘Exposure to environments like studies at a sainik school makes one disciplined’
Rajahmundry: Lieutenant JVVS Murthy, formerly with the Indian Navy, and Managing Director of Rajamahendri Shipping and Oil Field Services, River Bay Hotels, was awarded “Rotary Man of the Year”. During the felicitation function speakers asked Mr. Murthy to enter politics. H was having a clean image as disciplined solider of the Indian Armed Forces, they said.
At a grand function on Saturday night in Anam Rotary Hall, Andhra Sugars Ltd (Tanuku) chairman Mullapudi Harischandra Prasad, Andhra University Vice-Chancellor B. Satyanarayana, Prof. Bethavolu Ramabramham of Central University and others felicitated Lt Murthy and wife Nagamani with gold medal and memento.
Prof. B. Satyanarayana said establishment of industries after coming out from Armed Forces was good for society and Lt. Murthy had done a remarkable thing in this way.
Prof. Bethavolu Ramabramham said exposure to environments like studying in Sainik Schools like Lt. Murthy would give one discipline. He said working in submarine like Sindhuratna was not an easy task, which was done by Lt. Murty. He also asked him to join politics.
Pattapagalu Venkatrao of Rotary club briefed the career of Lt. Murthy. He said Lt. Murthy joined Korukonda Sainik School and was later selected for National Defence Academy, Khadakwasala, and graduated from Defence Officer training in 1982. He was commissioned into the Indian Navy as a Commissioned Officer and he was selected for the Elite Submarine Arm of the Indian Navy and served on board various submarines of the Indian Navy. He went to the erstwhile Soviet Union for training and commissioning new submarines. He served the Navy till 1993 and resigned and became an entrepreneur.
He is also Managing Director of KEI-RSOS Petroleum and Energy Private Limited. He is a member of Jasti Bullemmai Degree and PG College at Rajahmundry and Canan Institute of Hotel Management. He adopts municipal schools in Rajahmundry city.
