Tamil Nadu Governor K. Rosaiah presented Sri Paladi Sivalakshmamma, Lakshmikantham Shreshti Sahitya Puraskaram, 2012, comprising cash award of Rs. 10,116, memento and a citation to an 82-year-old litterateur V.V.L. Narasimha Rao in a private function in YSR auditorium here on Wednesday.
He released two books- ‘Sri Bhagavatha Karadeepika’ and ‘Padya Prasoonalu’- authored by former TTD Central Dharmik Advisory Council member Paladi Lakshmikantham Shreshti. Mr. Rosaiah, who released the books on December 12 at 12.12 p.m., said his visit on the significant date was coincidental.
The Governor also released ‘Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari Devi Pooja Yantram’ brought out by Sri Kanyaka Parameswari Devi temples and Arya Vysya Samsthala Samakhya.
Kadapa district is an abode of eminent writers and poets such as Puttaparthi Narayanacharyulu, Rajasekhara Sathavadhani and Subbanna Sastry, Mr. Rosaiah said. Recalling his 35-year-long association with Mr. Lakshmikantham Shreshti, he said the latter worked with the eminent poets referred to by him. Formerly a teacher, he has been bringing out a journal ‘Vysya Prabhodhini’ uninterruptedly since 35 years, he said.
Mr. Shreshti has beena literary critic, novelist and an exponent of ‘Seesa Padyam’ besides taking up religious and social activities, he said. Earlier, Mr. Rosaiah was welcomed by leaders and officials and he was given guard of honour at the State guest house here. Dr. Narasimha Rao expressed gratitude for conferring the award on him.
Congress MLC Shaik Hussain, who presided, said Sri Bhagavatha Karadeepika was fit for a Ph.D.
