Evangelist K.A. Paul on Monday announced that his Praja Shanthi Party would field its candidates in the ensuing by-elections and search is going on for the right candidates. Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Paul said that he was focusing on politics again and using the by-elections as an opportunity to take his party to the public. He said the party's candidates would be in the poll fray from Ramachandrapuram in East Godavari, Narsapuram in West Godavari, Payakaraopeta in Visakhapatnam and Prattipadu in Gutur districts.
“We have sent a letter to the Election Commission seeking a symbol to our party. Three symbols have been short-listed, from which one will be announced very soon,” he said.
Stating that the response to his meetings was tremendous, Mr. Paul said that leaders of the Congress, Telugu Desam Party and YSR Congress Party were envy of him due to the response. “I am planning to address a meeting in Kadapa very soon,” he said.
Mr. Paul said that the party's objective was to root out corruption from the society and render services to the deprived.
Taking potshots at film hero turned politician Chiranjeevi for merging Praja Rajyam Party into the Congress party, Mr. Paul said that he would never commit the mistake of merging his party into some other outfit.
