Speakers at a seminar on Friday felt that the media should play the role of a facilitator to usher in all round development by focusing on a particular burning issue till a solution is found for the same.
Speaking at a seminar organised by the Andhra Pradesh Working Journalists Federation district unit to mark the National Press day, they said media should focus on various issues relating to the people and act as a bridge between them and the administration.
The district’s potential had not been fully realised with loopholes in implementation of welfare schemes and prolonged delay in completion of development projects, Forum for Good Governance Shamsheer Ahamad, who moderated the discussion, said in his concluding remarks.
Virgina Tobacco Growers Welfare Association Honarary President Ch. Ranga Rao praised The Hindu for bringing the agrarian crisis and unabated suicide by farmers to the Centre-stage. Media on the whole should provide more coverage to issues relating to farmers, he suggested.
APWJF district president Kasi Viswanath, district secretary S.V.Brahmam, Forum for Good Governance president Alla Venkateswara Rao and N.G.Ranga Kisan Samastha secretary Ch.Seshaiah also spoke.
