A robbery bid at an ATM of Andhra Bank on the premises of the Andhra Pradesh Horticulture University at Venkataramannagudem in West Godavari has led to a dispute between Tadepalligudem police and their counterparts at Chebrole.

According to information, four persons armed with iron rods, forced their way into the ATM. When the security guard on duty resisted them, he was assaulted. On hearing his cries, security personnel of the university rushed to the scene and tried to nab the miscreants. They, however, snatched a gold chain from one of the security guards and escaped.

Tadepalligudem police reportedly refused to take a complaint from Parasuram Naik, manager of the Andhra Bank university branch on the ground that the scene of offence did not fall under their purview. Later, the complainant approached the Chebrole police but without success.

Andhra Bank Deputy General Manager V.M. Parthasaradhi and Lead District Manager S. Lakshminarayana then took up the matter with the police top brass.

Eluru DSP M. Rajani clarified that instructions were issued to the Chebrole police to register a case.
