66 tolas of gold and cash taken away from a house
VISAKHAPATNAM: Thieves broke into the house of a relative of Minister for Ports M. Venkata Ramana and decamped with 66 tolas of gold and Rs. 70,000 in cash on Sunday night. B. Srihari, a software engineer, was staying with his wife Jhansi Rani, his children and parents at Akkayyapalem NGGOs Colony. Srihari admitted his mother to a hospital following ill-health on Sunday evening. He and his wife stayed back at the hospital. The upper floor of their house was locked as Srihari’s father slept on the lower floor with the children.
The thieves gained entry through the backdoor and stole the gold ornaments and cash from the almyrah.
Police Commissioner N. Sambasiva Rao and Additional DCP P. Rama Rao visited the scene of crime. Fourth Town CI M. Srinivasa Rao is investigating the case.
Two die in accident
Two persons died and four others injured in a road accident at Toluttu village of Yellamanchili mandal on Monday night.
