NALGONDA: Road traffic accidents continue to constitute majority of emergency cases handled by GVK Emergency Management Research Institutes’s (EMRI) 108 ambulances in the district.
Disclosing the details of the EMRI services at the first ‘responders training programme’ held at the Press Club here on Thursday, the EMRI district officials said that the traffic accidents accounted for 17.02 per cent of the total number of emergencies attended by the 108 ambulance in August.
Pregnancy-related cases (14.72 per cent), acute abdomen pain cases (13.31 per cent) and suicides and poisoning cases (6.78 per cent) constituted the remaining.
The 108 ambulances have attended more than 1.06 lakh medical emergency cases apart from police and fire -related ones in the district between April 2008 and August 2009.
A total of 3,560 lives were saved between August 2005 and July 2009 in the district.
