The resignation submitted by the member of AP Public Service Commission K. Ripunjaya Reddy following his arrest by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on December 27 on corruption charges has been accepted by the government.
A government order was issued to this effect on Saturday.
A criminal case was registered against Ripunjaya Reddy under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 when the ACB unearthed alleged disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs. 4 crore in extensive raids on his residence and that of his friends and relatives on December 26.
The raids were conducted in the midst of a dispute in the APPSC over the role of its members which held up announcement of results for several recruitment examinations. It was the first time that the raid was conducted on the house of an APPSC member, a Constitutional post. After his arrest, he was remanded to judicial custody for 14 days upto January 9 and sent to Cherlapally prison.
